Backstory

Haru was born to a Hingan father from the Yatsurugi clan and a Sui-no-Sato mother who had fled Kugane, caught up in the Yatsurugi's disputes while she was still expecting. Their journey to Vylbrand took a sudden turn when their boat was attacked, forcing them to land in Paglth’an instead. It was there, in the heat of the desert, that Haru came into the world. His childhood was a good one—simple, warm, and full of small joys—though his parents did have their share of struggles adjusting to Thanalan’s unforgiving weather.

Thankfully, the Amalj'aa of Paglth’an welcomed Haru’s family and helped them with their basic needs. His teenage years were marked by loss, as both his parents passed away. Afterward, Haru was taken in to Zolm’ak and remained with the Amalj'aa for five years after the Calamity. Then one day, Haru experienced a sudden vision—his first glimpse of the Echo. The event stirred something within him and sparked the decision to begin a new life as an adventurer. Saying goodbye to the clan wasn’t easy, but the Amalj'aa reassured him he’d always have a place to return to.

◈   A lost member of Yatsurugi clan... By blood, Haru belongs to the Yatsurugi clan—his father, a cousin to the late clan leader, binds him to that distant legacy. Yet the weight of lineage rests lightly on his shoulders; born in Eorzea, he knows little of his heritage beyond the stories his parents once shared.

◈   Amalj'aan family... Raised among the Amalj'aa as a child, Haru grew accustomed to life among non-humans. As he journeyed the world as an adventurer, he couldn't help questioning the senseless prejudice aimed at the beastkin clans.

◈   A former Scion of the Seventh Dawn member... It was Thancred who brought Haru into the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and offered him a place to flourish. There, he len5 his aid with his newfound gift of the Echo, serving faithfully until the group's disbandment. Though now residing quietly in Ishgard, he still keeps in touch with other former comrades, clinging on its golden memories.

◈   Avid practitioner of red magick... Trained under X’rhun Tia, Haru wasn’t the most outstanding student. Still, X’rhun recognized a quiet potential in him—in both his swordsmanship and his efforts to channel aether. Progress was slow, sometimes barely noticeable, but over time, a steady foundation began to form.

◈   Adventurer and craftsman at heart... Self-sufficient in almost everything—except cooking—Haru would take on any kind of work. From stealth missions to open skirmishes, from crafting trinkets to forging weapons, he could do it all… given enough time to learn, no matter how long it took.

◈   Doesn't mind being dirty outdoors, but indoors... Owning a house is quite a hassle especially when Haru has to clean all by himself. Haru will definitely have a long talk about how people don’t follow proper manners in his home—and probably a few more things while he’s at it...
